La Fattoria di Ripa d’Orcia gets its name from the Castello di Ripa d’Orcia which has been representing the heart of the Farm Estate since his construction (XIII cent.).
Nowadays with more than 200 hectares located at the very heart of the Orcia valley Fattoria di Ripa d'Orcia has been producing fine wines and superb extravirgin olive oil for centuries combining the family traditions with modern techniques.

800th ANNIVERSARY
The mediaeval Castello di Ripa d'Orcia was probably built in the early Middle Ages, but it does not appear in official deeds until 1213 when it is mentioned in the "Estimo", a generaI census of land and castles.
During this period the Castle belonged to the Salimbeni dynasty. In the 1484 the castle along with its fortress, the village and a large part of surrounding land became the property of the Piccolomini of the Carli lineage.
Castello di Ripa d'Orcia, an architectural complex which has survived virtually unchanged to the present day, offers to his guest and visitors the magical atmosphere of the past times surrounded by an unspoilt nature.
